Harborfest Brings Music, Arts, Colonialfest and Saturday Night Fireworks!

Boston Harborfest is reinvigorated for 2016 with a full lineup of events this year from July 1st through July 4th and a big fireworks show on Saturday, July 2nd.

It all starts on Friday, July 1st with Opening Ceremonies (11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) featuring the 215th Army Band and the famous cake cutting at Faneuil Hall. Live entertainment will begin in Christopher Columbus Park and Long Wharf at 6:30 PM and lead up to a family-friendly movie screening of Yankee Doodle Dandy on the lawn.

The Arts at Harborfest will take place during the day on Saturday, July 2nd. Local fine artists and artisans will be exhibiting and selling their artwork, curated by Artists Crossing, in Christopher Columbus Park from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In addition to exhibiting, they will showcase and sell harbor-inspired paintings created that very day by Wet Paint participants between 4:00 and 6:00 PM. Arts at Harborfest will also include interactive art demonstrations and live performing arts on the stage.

Colonial Festival brings Family Fun to Old North Church for Harborfest on Saturday July 2nd, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Old North will celebrate the Fourth of July in colonial style.  Experience colonial life through hands on activities: fife lessons, sewing, quill writing, tricorne hat making, and more. Mars Corporation and American Heritage Chocolate will be set-up in the Prado / Paul Revere Mall (between Hanover and Unity Streets) for chocolate making demonstrations. The Printing Office of Edes and Gill will be printing the Boston edition of the Declaration of Independence.  Captain Jackson’s Historic Chocolate Shop will have delicious chocolates made by New England chocolate makers.

Opera at Harborfest! NEMPAC is happy to be performing at the Boston Harborfest this year! This special concert starts at 4:00 p.m. at Christopher Columbus Park is free and open to the public. Four singers and a pianist will take the stage and present your Italian Opera arias, duets and favorites!

Fireworks!! Boston’s Inner Harbor will light up on Saturday, July 2nd. First, various sailors will decorate their boats along with live music at Long Wharf. At 9:00 p.m, the big finale will be Fireworks over Boston Harbor at 9:00 p.m.

Taste of Harborfest – On Sunday, July 3rd, local restaurants will showcase and sell their culinary creations on Long Wharf alongside live musical entertainment.

All weekend, the USS Mesa Verde will be on display in the Seaport at North Jetty.
