Ever since the Bova brothers of the North End laced there first pair of ice skates, they have been competing in competitive hockey programs and successfully at that.
Joseph, the older brother age 13, an eighth grader at Boston Latin School, is currently skating for the Wolvepack Junior Varsity squad and scored the first goal of the team’s season.
An excellent all-around player, Joseph lights up the lamp on a frequent basis. He also skates for the Boston Junior Eagles and the Belmont Hockey Program Marauders.
Ten-year-old younger brother Richie is following in Joseph’s footsteps also skating for the Boston and Belmont hockey teams. He is also considered a goal scorer and all around hockey player.
They are the sons of Lynn (Longo) and Joseph Bova of North Washington Street and the grandsons of Richie and Mary Ann Longo of the North End.
Grandpa Richie, tries to attend most of his grandsons games and somehow manages to do so, while he and his wife run two local businesses, Amici’s Restaurant and Corner Café.
This is a true North End hockey family.

Great article and great family. Wonderful athletes!
Not to forget their other grandma~~~~Maria Bova~~~wonderful person in our community and fabulous grandma as well !!!
Right on, Janet. I was a good friend of Maria’s husband, Joe, and he would be so proud of his grandchildren. Sometimes it takes a generation or two to straighten things out but what a happy result. Grandparents are the unsung heroes of our generation.
