Friends of Christopher Columbus Park Objects to Municipal Harbor Planning Process

The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park Board of Directors sent a letter this week to the Boston Redevelopment Authority highlighting its concerns with the ongoing Downtown Waterfront Municipal Harbor Plan.

Complying with Chapter 91 fulfills the spirit of the law: the waterfront first and foremost belongs to the public at large and the interest of the public supersedes the needs of privately held land.

The complete letter is shown below:

  1. This letter sounds like it is from the board of Harbor Towers. Maybe the FOCCP board should worry about the park instead, like thise awful lights.

  2. Thank you for stating so clearly the problems with the BRA’s approach to this area. No individual development should determine how the Boston Waterfront is developed.
As you state, the waterfront belongs to the public. Let’s not destroy this unique and historic neighborhood.

  3. Kudo’s to the FOCCP board of directors for stating the problem with our Warterfront development so clearly.
The Seaport District is not an inviting area. Let’s stick to the rules on this side and keep our area people-friendly and preserve its ‘community’ vibe.

  4. This letter makes excellent points. If huge high-rises are built, we will be stuck with them, and no one except the developers will benefit.
