The highly anticipated Janet Echelman aerial sculpture has officially risen over the Greenway! Streets were closed in the early morning hours on Sunday, May 3rd, to allow for construction crews to hoist the piece of public art. The net LED sculpture sits above the Rose Kennedy Greenway, suspended from the Intercontinental Hotel, 125 High Street and One international place. By 10:00am on Sunday morning, the sculpture was being raised as crews were all hands on deck.
The sculpture was designed by Janet Echelman, an award winning artist who has been exhibited around the world but never locally in Boston, even though she is a resident of Brookline. For more information, read 10 Things to Know About the Echelman Sculpture on the Greenway.
