Ed Markey (D) and Gabriel Gomez (R) won their respective party primaries on Tuesday in a Special Primary Election to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by John Kerry. (See voting results.)
Markey defeated fellow U.S. Congressman Stephen Lynch on the Democratic ticket. For the Republicans, Gomez took the win over Michael Sullivan and Daniel Winslow. The two will face off on June 25, 2013 in the final election for the U.S. Senate seat. (By the way, NorthEndWaterfront.com readers foreshadowed these outcomes in last week’s poll.)
Polls were empty most of the day according to workers in the North End / Waterfront. The low turnout was in stark contrast to last Fall’s Presidential election where lines were over 2 hours at some neighborhood locations.
