NEWRA Agenda Includes RMV Move, Zoning Requests and Taping Policy

The North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) will hold its next regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 13, 2012, 7:00 PM, at the Nazzaro Center, 30 North Bennet Street. The agenda is attached here and copied below. Support NEWRA, and be a part of these important community discussions.

It’s membership renewal time! Don’t forget to renew your NEWRA membership for 2013, and invite a friend to join, as well. Send in the attached membership form with $10 annual dues per member, or sign up at the December 13 meeting.

Election for Sergeant at Arms: As required by the NEWRA By-laws, advance notice is hereby given that NEWRA will hold an election to fill the empty seat of Sergeant at Arms at its meeting on January 10, 2013. Members may submit nominations to info@newra.org.

Registry of Motor Vehicles on the Move

7:20 PM – 7:40 PM
John Romano of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will discuss MassDOT’s plans to move the Registry of Motor Vehicles into the 2nd and 3rd floors of the long-empty building at Parcel 7 (adjacent to the new Haymarket Garage and T Station) from its existing location on Washington Street in Chinatown.

Zoning and Licensing Applications

93 Endicott Street, Jose Faria
, has filed an appeal for zoning relief to construct a roof deck for the private use of the top-floor unit.

7:55 PM – 8:10 PM
78-80 Salem Street, Chris Young has filed an appeal for zoning relief to construct a second floor addition to the existing one-story building and expand the first floor restaurant, “Trattoria Pulcinella,” into the second floor, increasing the seating capacity from 34 to 66.

Policy on Taping of NEWRA Meetings

8:10 PM – 8:30 PM
Discussion and vote on a NEWRA policy concerning videotaping or audiotaping of NEWRA regular monthly meetings (does not include committee meetings), proposed as follows: “Videotaping or audiotaping of NEWRA regular monthly meetings may be allowed under the following conditions: 1) permission to tape is requested in advance of the meeting date and approved by the Executive Committee, and 2) the members are given notice at the beginning of the meeting that it will be taped.”
