Monday News & Views: Busy Week Ahead and Join the Hug Photo

Some of the Many Events This Week:

On Monday, the North End Library, 25 Parmenter St., has films for kids at 11 am and a Halloween craft event at 4 pm.

On Tuesday, NEWRA has its monthly Zoning, Licensing & Construction Committee meeting. See the agenda.

On Wednesday, catch the Jack Volpe Project, singing the songs of the Italian crooners at the NE Library at 6:45pm. See the flyer.

On Thursday, there is a hearing at City Hall on the Nuisance Control Ordinance at 6pm. See the post.

Also on Thursday, the free Najarian Endowed Lecture on Human Rights is at Faneuil Hall at 7pm, with Ambassador Edward Djerejian, former US Ambassador to Israel and the Syrian Arab Republic speaking on the immigrant experience. More information.

Friday starts the Halloween events with the Haunted House Carnival at the Nazzaro playground and NEMPAC’s Hoot & Howl fundraiser.

Neighborhood Photo of the Day:

Jeanne Dasaro of NorthEndStories.com fame manned the North End “Join the Hug” station with her parents on Salem Street. They gave out Free Hugs and t-shirts for a $10 donation as part of a fundraising campaign for youth programs. Jeanne said, “Most people have been very nice, although some think we’re completely crazy.”
