The North End Music and Performing Arts Center has announced that North End resident, Mark Simcox, has joined NEMPAC as Cello Instructor.
“Mark has incredible performance experience and training, and NEMPAC is certainly excited to have him on board as our new Cello Instructor,” said NEMPAC’s Program Director, Sherri Snow. He is currently accepting new students.
Mark Simcox is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory where he studied cello. He has been a member of the Boston Lyric Opera Orchestra for 20 years. During the summer he performs with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra at the Hatch Shell. He is Principal Cellist of the Boston Classical Orchestra and has performed with the Boston Pops, the Boston Ballet Orchestra, and a new music ensemble called Alea III. He has played several national and European tours with such groups as the Boston Pops, the New York City Opera and Alea III. He lives in the North End.
