Boston is a great city for trick-or-treating and kids in the downtown neighborhoods make a killing! That is the result from the 2011 Zillow Trick-or-Treat Index.

According to this year’s index, Boston ranked second among the 20 best U.S. cities for the Halloween ritual. This is a significant improvement from last year when Boston was eighth on the list. San Francisco was ranked #1. (See graphic below and full results here.)

Within Boston, the North End neighborhood ranked 3rd among the best areas for trick-or-treating. Beacon Hill took the top spot followed by Back Bay. Rounding out the top five are the South End and Kenmore. Click here for neighborhood results.

The housing-related index is designed to represent cities and neighborhoods with the likelihood of best candy and the least walking and safety risks using published statistical data. Click here for the full 2011 results.
