Boston’s Fire Fighting Bachelors Auctioned Off to Benefit Local 718’s Fill the Boot for MDA Fund


BOSTON’S HOTTEST FIRE FIGHTING BACHELORS AUCTIONED OFF TO BENEFIT LOCAL 718’S FILL THE BOOT FOR MDA FUND

Who:     Boston Fire Fighters Local #718, 10 Boston Fire Fighter bachelors, Boston Cannons LAX dance team and the Muscular Dystrophy Association

What:    $10 at the door, which includes two drinks courtesy of Bacardi and Sam Adams, access to the patio cook out and the chance to win a date with one of Boston’s most eligible fire fighters

When:    Cook out 4-8 p.m., auction 8-10 p.m., Thursday June 9

Where:   Dillon’s Restaurant and Bar, 955 Boylston St. Boston

Why:     The nation’s first fire department, Boston Fire Department (IAFF Local #718), will be celebrating the halfway mark of their summer-long “Fill the Boot” fundraising drive for MDA. Local 718 personnel will be manning the grill on the patio from 4-8.  Later that evening, the Boston Cannons LAX Dance Team will be hosting the bachelor auction which features dinner dates with 10 of Boston’s most eligible fire fighters. Organizers hope to raise $10,000, with all proceeds directly benefiting MDA’s Boston chapter through Local 718 “Fill the Boot” fund.

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is MDA’s largest sponsor, having contributed more than $400 million since the partnership began in 1954. Seventy-seven percent of every dollar raised from this event provides services to 2,500 residents of Massachusetts living with muscle disease.

MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat 43 neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive services and professional public health education.

In addition to funding ground-breaking research, MDA maintains 200+ hospital-affiliated clinics nationwide, including seven in the Greater Boston area. Funds raised by this event will also support  MDA’s summer camp for children with muscular dystrophy at Camp Allen in Bedford, N.H
