Hanover St. resident, Michael Dean, has an extensive portfolio of North End art with scenes from throughout the neighborhood. Here is how he describes the it:
I’ve lived in the North End for ten years so far and I love the feeling of the many lives that have passed through the tiny streets and back alleys. It’s almost as nice as Italy, at least as close as you can get in America. I also love the bits of American and Boston history that show throughout the neighborhood and which draw people from all over the world to see the North End.
Many of the paintings displayed on his Flickr site have a link to an art blog where you can read more about the neighborhood, and the creation and concept behind each painting. Many North Enders will also enjoy his portfolio of the towns and cities in Italy/Sicily as well as of Boston’s waterfront. Take a look at his Flickr site and you will also see his creative work goes deep into other areas as well.
This was a most interesting article for me. I love the realistic architectural paintings of the North End, as well as much of the other Dean work that I browsed on the artist's flickr site and his blog.
