Sapori Di Napoli Looks to Add Liqueurs

Vincenzo & Giovanni Grimaldi presented to NEWRA’s Zoning, Licensing & Construction Committee to add liqueurs to its recently acquired beer & wine license at Sapori Di Napoli (115A Salem Street). There are currently 32 seats while the license provides for up to 40 seats with a closing hour of up to 12 am midnight, 7 days a week. The owners do not plan significant changes, but may add panini and more food selections.

The Grimaldi’s were asked about a recent business listing to sell a North End cafe that fits the description of their other cafe, Napoli Pastry, also on Salem Street. Instead of transferring the Napoli Pastry license to Sapori Di Napoli, the owners brought a new license to the neighborhood. At the time of the second license application in December 2009, there were questions as to whether the owners would sell the first license for a quick profit. When asked about their plans for Napoli Pastry, the owner said they have “no plans to sell the business.”

In response to a previous abutter request, the business has installed curtains to dim lights from the back windows.

A hearing at City Hall is tentatively scheduled for May 12th. NEWRA will vote on the application on May 13th and NEWNCwill take up the issue on May 10th.
