The 3rd Annual NEMPAC (North End Music & Performing Arts) Bocce Tournament was held on May 27, 2010 at the Langone Park bocce courts and on the indoor courts in Steriti Rink. There was pizza donated by Pizzeria Regina, beverages donated by Donato Frattaroli and the NEMPAC Rock Band provided musical entertainment (see the video of the Rock Band playing Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” on their Facebook page). There were 10 teams that played in the tournament for a total of 40 players. It was a single elimination tournament and games were to 10 points.
Above are the top 2 winning teams with the event organizers. Holding the trophies in the top row are the “Warriors” in first place with members Dan Scalia, Reed Juckett, Jon Sproul and Jim Sproul. “Chillax” was the team taking second place (shown in the bottom row) with Ryan Kenny, Catherine Burns, Lindsay Farragher and Doug McGregor. City Councilor, Sal LaMattina’s team “Team LaMattina” finished third place (after losing a heartbreaking 10-9 game in the semi-finals).
