The soggy weather did not dampen the festive mood at the seventh annual holiday lighting of Christopher Columbus Park’s signature trellises on Monday night. An enthusiastic and surprisingly large crowd showed up to enjoy the festivities.
The annual holiday lighting display, sponsored by the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, bedecked all 260 feet of the trellises at the heart of the park with 50,000 bulbs in a unique and stunning blue and white design that will be displayed through March 2010.

Additional decorations included lighted pine boughs to highlight the Rose Kennedy Rose Garden, wreaths, and 12 decorated trees.

The free celebration included entertainment and featured a visit from Santa Claus along with seasonal musical favorites from the North End Music and Performing Arts Center and the Ray Cavicchio Band. Revelers enjoyed shot chocolate and treats.

Sorry I missed this event. The lights are GORGEOUS. Will have to get over there soon to see them. Glad they will be up through March.
