The North Bennet Street School held its annual open house last weekend where the school opened its doors to the community. Executive Director Miguel Gomez-Ibanez, students and instructors were on hand and very welcoming of questions and discussion about the school’s work. The event was very well-attended. The school continues to look to expand its facilities in the North End as well as other locations.
North Bennet Street School’s mission is to train students for careers in traditional trades that use hand skills in concert with evolving technology, to preserve and advance craft traditions, and to promote greater appreciation of craftsmanship.

The school offers full-time and workshop programs in the following crafts: Bookbinding, Cabinet and Furniture Making, Carpentry, Jewelry Making and Repair, Locksmithing, Piano Technology, Preservation Carpentry, Violin Making and Repair. More information about full-time and workshop programs can be found at nbss.org.
Mike, you’re right this was a great event.
Ed and I really enjoyed the open house and are planning to visit the exhibition of work from Bennet Street Alumni that opened today at the Concord Museum. We did a post on it earlier this week.
