Neighborhood residents and this blog have been rightfully critical of many of the Fairmont Battery Wharf’s recent applications for late night alcohol service at over 160 outdoor patio seats and a valet license on Commercial Street. With a pending entertainment license, this strain might continue for a while longer. However, I wanted to post a bit of positive news regarding the Fairmont efforts to incorporate into the neighborhood.
At a recent gathering with employees, Fairmont Hotels donated $5,000 to its neighborhood partner, the John Eliot K-8 School. The relationship between the hotel company and the North End school is expected to include future school events and learning about the hospitality industry. It’s a good sign to see the hotel begin to reach out to neighborhood causes.
