The North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) hosted an informal social event to introduce prospective members to the neighborhood group. The party was held at the North Street Grille with complimentary food and drinks on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.
NEWRA President Jim Salini explained that the purpose of the event was to promote NEWRA and its activities to improve residential life in the North End / Waterfront neighborhood. Many attendees were new to the neighborhood, interested in volunteering or active in other community groups.
A highlight of the affair was the presentation of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association Good Citizen Award to David Kubiak and Victor Brogna. Both men have been longtime co-chairs of NEWRA’s Zoning, Licensing and Construction (ZLC) Committee as well as serving in officer roles. The award recognizes outstanding commitment to NEWRA and the North End / Waterfront neighborhood in advocating for the quality of life for all residents. It was voted by the NEWRA Executive Committee (excluding David & Victor) and it will not be given out on any regular basis in order to preserve its distinction. The award was presented by NEWRA President Jim Salini and Sergeant at Arms Marie Simboli.
