It is with deep sadness that we pass on the news of our friend, Guild Nichols, longtime North End resident, activist and business owner as well as the founder of NorthEndBoston.com and Old Boston Tours.
Guild Nichols died suddenly of a heart attack on June 7, 2012. He was 67. He was vibrant, enthusiastic and he loved the North End and all its people. It was his home for many years. Many of you knew about the changes in his life in the past three years, as you would see him walking down the street hand in hand with his wife Ann.
No services have been scheduled. His wish was to have his ashes scattered into the oceans on the East and West coasts.
I met and chatted with Guild and Ann on a number of occasions – a terrible loss. My thoughts are with Ann during this extraordinarily difficult time!
I am going to miss my dear friend…
oh, my goodness… shocked and sad…. Always a cheerful hello – and I know the last 3 years is was so happy about meeting and marrying Ann… RIP……
I can hardly speak except to say I will miss him dearly. I’ll always remember his wonderful laugh, with which he was so generous.

Dear Ann,
I am in France, so loved you and Guild. I am so sad to hear this shocking news. Tip and I chatted with him just last week. He was so vibrant as usual. I learned so many interesting facts about the North End from him. Facts I often share with those new to the neighborhood. A wonderful man who I will miss dearly.
My thoughts are with you.
Patricia

A great and dear friend will be missed. He was an inspiration to us and many. Our sincere thoughts go out to Ann and his daughters.
Polcari Boys……
I just spoke with Guild a few weeks ago outside Albee’s on Parmenter St. He looked wonderful, and as always, we had a few laughs. I can’t believe he’s gone. My heart-felt condolences to Ann. I’m so sorry. He will truly be missed.
I am very sad to hear about the loss of Guild. He loved our neighborhood and was a good friend to many of us. Rest in peace my friend.
I came home to this news tonight and I cannot express how sad and shocked I am. That such a vibrant spirit could actually succumb just makes me feel so much more than mortal. Guild, we saw Zoe into this world and I will never forget your loving support through all of that. I will miss your wisdom and wit, I will miss you! Love, Lesley
What a loss! Does Annie know?
