Open House, Open Studios at the North Bennet Street School
Aspiring furniture makers, bookbinders, jewelry makers – or those merely curious about the process of making exquisite things by hand – are invited to a rare, behind-the-scenes look at one of the America’s oldest schools of craftsmanship during a special two-day open house to be held November 6 and 7 at the North Bennet Street School (www.nbss.org) in Boston’s North End.
The event will be held on Friday, November 6, 10am to 2pm and Saturday, November 7, 10am to 3pm. Admission to the event is free.
Eliot School Kids Visit City Council
About 33 students from the North End’s Eliot Elementary School visited At-Large Councillor John Connolly. The kids sang a couple of songs, showed off their knowledge about City Hall, and got to sit at the councillor’s desks in the Council Chambers.

ABCD’s North End/West End NSC Nominates Marie Cantlon For Award
ABCD’s North End/West End NSC has nominated West End community activist Marie Cantlon for honors at the Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) 35th Annual Community Awards Dinner on Friday, October 30 at the Marriot Boston Copley Place. The dinner celebrates the voluntary efforts of individuals who have worked tirelessly to address and placate the plight of Boston’s underprivileged communities through voluntary leadership and service.

Children’s H1N1 Flu Clinic at North End Community Center
The North End Community Health Center is running a Children’s Flu Clinic to administer the H1N1 (Swine) Flu Vaccine.
Please call 617-643-8100 for an appointment.
The Center is also administering regular (seasonal) flu vaccines.

On Tuesday, October 6th, Mayor Menino will tour the North End Head Start school and visit with some of the children. The mayor will also read to the children and participate in a number of other activities with them. The visit is scheduled for 11:15am at 9 Moon Street (at North Street).
