Memorial Dedication on Prado for Patrolman Andrew B. Cuneo, 1st Italian American Boston Police Officer Killed in the Line of Duty

On Saturday, October 8, 2011, a Memorial Dedication to late North Ender and Patrolman Andrew B. Cuneo was held on the Prado, also known as the Paul Revere Mall, in Boston’s North End. The memorial plaque mounted on the brick wall is a tribute to Cuneo as the first Italian American Boston Police Officer killed in the line of duty in 1921. The story of Andrew Cuneo, an Eliot School valedictorian, is told by the speakers in the above video and the program history is also shown below. The event was also held as part of Italian Heritage Month on Columbus Day weekend.

The Boston Harbor Association (TBHA) announced today the hire of Julie Wormser as Executive Director of the organization.  Wormser joins President Vivien Li, who was promoted to President in March after serving as Executive Director for 20 years.

“The combination of Julie Wormser and Vivien Li creates a very strong senior team for TBHA,” said Brian Dacey, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.  “Between Vivien’s unmatched knowledge of Boston Harbor issues and Julie’s extensive background in environmental policy and capacity building, our new team has the skills and resources to enable TBHA to grow our advocacy and programming efforts.”

A seasoned fundraiser with a great deal of experience working for non-profit organizations, Wolin took over this position in August.

“We were searching for a highly motivated, creative and experienced person to lead our fundraising efforts, and Jodi impressed us all tremendously,” says Nancy Brennan, executive director of the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy. “As a North End resident, she has seen firsthand the transformation of the Greenway, and shares our conviction that the park will only get better as the years go by.
