Boston Fire Department responded around 5:30pm on Sunday when a manhole cover blew off in front of Lewis Wharf at Atlantic Avenue and Commercial Streets along the waterfront in Boston’s North End.

Witnesses report a loud crash. No injuries were apparent.

Underground Fire Causes Manhole Covers to Blow Off at Richmond & North Streets

At about 3pm on Tuesday, July 3rd, an underground fire caused manhole covers to blow off near the corner of Richmond and North Streets, according to Boston Police.
