The ABCD (Action for Boston Community Development) North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NE/WE NSC) recently held its Valentine’s Day party at the end of February, due to snow delays earlier in the month. Nearly three dozen members of the community, almost all of them neighborhood seniors, came to the North End center at 1 Michelangelo Street to enjoy one another’s company and a home-cooked repast of pasta, vegetables, cupcakes, and coffee. The meal was prepared by Head Cook Franco Palopoli and served by NE/WE NSC staff and volunteers.
Artu on Prince Street in the North End graciously donated trays of chicken cacciatore – thank you so much, Nancy Frattaroli! The NE/WE NSC is a grateful recipient of surplus perishables from Whole Foods Market and the Boston Public Market, which Lovin’ Spoonfuls brings to the center twice a week. The NE/WE NSC delights in taking full advantage of this lovely produce and making sure that our seniors eat their greens!
Special guests at the Valentine’s Day party included Senator Joe Boncore’s aide, Luigi Natali, who brought chocolates; State Representative Aaron Michlewitz’s aide, Patrick Lyons, who visited with Valentine greetings and roses; and City Councilor Sal LaMattina, who delivered vanilla and strawberry truffles, and joined the meal by both socializing and serving seniors! Victor Brogna, NE/WE NSC Advisory Board member, serenaded the crowd with his trumpet playing.
Would you like to join the fun? Please call the NE/WE NSC directly at 617-523-8125 to reserve your spot for future luncheons, which the NE/WE NSC will advertise in advance. New clients must sign up to obtain free membership with ABCD.
