This February, The KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market will launch a new Signature Chef Series to showcase popular chefs and their relationships with the Massachusetts farmers, fishermen, and food artisans they source from.
The chef series will launch with special guest, Chef Jose Duarte of Taranta in the North End on Tuesday, February 28 from 6pm-9pm. Duarte will present a cooking demonstration and custom six-course menu featuring food and ingredients from the Boston Public Market’s onsite vendor community. The menu will be inspired by his Peruvian heritage and mastery of Italian culinary traditions. Wine and/or spirit tastings will be paired with each course, with New England craft beers from the Market’s Hopsters Alley and wine selections from the Massachusetts Wine Shop available for purchase.
“We are honored to kick off this new chef series with the talented Jose Duarte, and look forward to sharing him and more of Boston’s most renowned chefs with our guests at The KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market throughout the year,” adds Barbara Erickson, Trustees President and CEO. “Each chef contributes to our regional food system through their creative menus and commitment to sourcing locally, which is in line with our mission as one of the largest owners of farmland in Massachusetts, to connect more people with locally grown, healthy food.”
“I’m thrilled to partner with The Trustees to celebrate the food entrepreneurs at the Boston Public Market and provide this special evening,” said Duarte, “I’m looking forward to teaching our guests some of my favorite winter recipes and introducing them to cooking with fresh, local ingredients.”
Other chefs to be featured in the series include Carl Dooley, Season 13 competitor on Top Chef and Executive Chef of the new restaurant The Table in Cambridge on Thursday, April 20 and Matthew Jennings, award-winning, renowned Chef and Owner of Townsman Boston, on Saturday, May 13. More information on these and upcoming events in the series will be available at thetrustees.org/KITCHEN.
“The mission of our series is to feature area chefs who care about using the highest quality ingredients in their cooking and the many talented local farmers and food artisans in Massachusetts that they source from, like those at The Boston Public Market,” says The KITCHEN Director Lieza Dagher. “We are excited to offer our guests this unique opportunity to witness these special partnerships and learn about the impact they have in our community.”
Proceeds from the chef series benefit The Trustees, Massachusetts largest conservation and preservation nonprofit, and The KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market in support of its mission to provide free educational programs on seasonal eating, nutrition and wellness, and sustainable, local agriculture. Tickets are $160 for Trustees members and $200 for nonmembers, and include Chef Duarte’s demonstration, a seated six-course menu, and craft spirits and wine tastings with each course.
