Boston’s Italian community and local restaurants raised over $60,000 at “Boston Stands With Italy,” a fundraiser held on Sunday, October 23rd at Steriti rink in the North End.
A 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit central Italy in late August, leveling entire towns and resulting in devastating loss and the deaths of 298 people. Funds will support the earthquake relief efforts in Central Italy, specifically to families in Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo and Lazio regions.
Guests were treated to offerings by nearly thirty of Boston’s best Italian restaurants including Lucia Ristorante, Ducali, Filippo Ristorante, Capo, Aria, Massimino’s, Al Dente, Beneventos, il Casale, Cinquencento, J. Pace, Modern Pastry and many more. Harpoon, Guglielmo, and several wine distributors were also on hand to sponsor the event featuring a silent auction and entertainment by Scansonati, Spajazzy, Giulia Duchi and Lello’s Italian Job. Local elected officials attended as did Consul General of Italy in Boston, Nicola De Santis, along with several Italian organizations including Comites, and the New England Italian Student Association (NISA).
