Neighborhood Photo: New Monica’s Mercato & Salumeria Open for Business

The newly expanded Monica’s Mercato & Salumeria at 130 Salem Street is now completed and open for business in Boston’s North End.

“A lot of care and love has been invested in our market,” said the Mendoza family in a Facebook announcement. The new glass storefront is adjacent to the original location with the entire market renovated inside.

These are the type of establishments the North End needs not 7-11’s or Dunkin Donuts.

I agree Michaled, but what do we need exactly? Two salumerias seems to be sufficient, right? I think there is a need for more prepared food take-out options in the neighborhood. Like that Whole Foods food court type of thing.

Love Monica’s, but what’s up with no listed prices? Sometimes you are charged X price per pound, other times Y price per pound depending on who is working…

I think what is needed is more people who know how to cook for themselves!

These young men have a gift. The changes they make, and the addition to Monica’s are of the highest quality. Always, in good taste. The new place is beautiful and adds some ‘class’ to Salem Street. The brothers are real workers, they know what they are doing, and I trust their products. Love the black and white facade and the balloons matched. No one matches them !
