Neighborhood Photo of the Day:
This photo is called the “Wonder Women of FOCCP” for the ladies that make up the Board and Committee heads in the all-volunteer group, Friends of Christopher Columbus Park. This all-volunteer group has become the model for “friends” groups in the city. Christopher Columbus Park is among the cleanest public parks in Boston, thanks to Joan Murphy, shown in the center receiving an award for her years of volunteer morning cleanings complete with rubber boots and a trashpicker. See more party photos from the recent FOCCP Casino Night fundraiser.
From the left, Horticulture co-chairs Robyn Reed and Mary Ann Esparo, Website & Internet Communications chair Christina Sperry, Fundraising chair Sandra Harcourt, Membership chair Beverly Knight, President Joanne Hayes-Rines, Honoree Joan Murphy, Vice-President Trish Baumer, Director at Large Meghan Denenberg, Treasurer Virginia Kimball and Clerk Audrey Tortolani.
While the focus is on the Bridge of Flowers, the Garden Club of America has also awarded $10,000 to FOCCP to expand and irrigate the garden circle near the Marriott side of the park. Join FOCCP on Monday, 5pm, for the annual trellis lighting with NEMPAC and Boston Parks. See the flyer.
