Have you recovered from all the 4th of July, Harborfest, Navy Week, OpSail’s Tall Ships and War of 1812 Bicentennial events? Bask in the glory through our photos and coverage.
Now, it is time to gear up for the second week of the month and that means … community meetings! That’s exciting or incredibly boring, depending on your point of view. Fortunately, there are plenty of other events going on this week as well.
Monday, July 9th is the monthly public meeting for the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council, NEWNC, starting at 7:00 pm at the Nazzaro Center. See the agenda that includes several neighborhood zoning requests. We also hear that State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz will be on hand to discuss Greenway legislation.
On Tuesday, July 10th, there are five after-work meetings and events in the neighborhood! The Boston Finance Commission meets at 152 North St. at 5:00pm (see their recent letter on the North & Richmond properties). Then, it’s the second week for NEMPAC’s Summer Concert Series featuring North End Cabaret on the Prado, starting at 6:00 pm. The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park have their monthly meeting, 6:30 pm, at the Mariner’s House. There’s also a doggie meetup at CCP itself and ironically, at 7:00pm, a NEWRA committee meets with city officials at the Nazzaro Center to discuss dog concerns in the parks. You can’t make this stuff up!
Wednesday, July 11th is the first of ROC – Teen Saturday’s Movie Nights in the Gassy at 7:00 pm.
That brings us to Friday the 13th! Break the curse at a free Sports Night at Polcari Playground (outside the Nazzaro Center) sponsored by North End Against Drugs. It starts at 6pm and is open to boys and girls, ages 6-16. If you’re over 16, maybe a concert on the Greenway is in order as Evolfo Doofeht will be performing on the Wharf District parks.
There are also plenty of activities this week at the North End Branch Library, listed in the calendar.
If we missed something, let us know in the comments below and we’ll add it to the calendar. Thanks!
