Community members from the North End and throughout Downtown Boston came out to recognize and thank Bernie O’Rourke this week, longtime Captain serving 18 years at Boston Police District A-1 and recently promoted to Deputy Superintendent. Captain Tom Lee will take over the role at District A-1 as O’Rourke moves to BPD Headquarters.
State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz read Dep. O’Rourke a State House proclamation and City Councilor Bill Linihan also spoke at the event. Awards were presented from several communities, including the North End, West End and Leather District. Accolades also came from colleagues at District A-1, including Lt. Det. Chuck Wilson and Sgt. Tom Lema. The celebratory event was held at Ned Devine’s at Fanueil Hall Marketplace on March 21, 2012.
A special highlight was singing by Sgt. Tom Lema. See the video clip below along with photos from the event.
